AI Killing Productivity? Here's Why That's Dead Wrong
Some recent reports(1) claim AI is hurting worker productivity. As someone who's helped businesses and a great many people increase their productivity with AI, I can tell you that's nonsense.
Here's the real deal:
🎯️ It's not the tool, it's the training. Most workers haven't been properly trained on AI tools Would you expect productivity gains from giving someone a race car without driving lessons?
🎯️ AI amplifies, it doesn't replace AI should enhance your existing workflows, not create new ones Use AI to speed up tasks you're already doing, not to invent new busywork.
🎯️ The learning curve is an investment Short-term productivity dips are normal when adopting new tech The long-term gains far outweigh the initial stumbling.
🎯️ Measure what matters. Are you tracking the right metrics? Focus on output quality and time saved, not just task completion.
Start small, scale smart Begin with one task or process. Then, perfect it. Teach it to someone else and see if it helps them. This will solidify your own learning. Then, expand to other areas and more complex use cases.
AI is (for now) a tool. It's a really special and unique tool the likes of which we haven't seen in a long time. Think wheel, printing press, fire, art, and the written word. Those kind of tools. It's not a magic wand and we aren't born just innately knowing what to do.
With proper implementation and training, it's a game-changer for productivity. Don't let fear mongering hold you back from the future of work.
